Fake Measles, more teef and air show!

Caleb’s 7.9 kg and 71cm!!! Yeah I’ve grown a little taller and heavier!!! Still on the small side but mummy and daddy’s loving it!

Wonder what causes Fake Measles coz Caleb’s having them now!!! Remember I mentioned Caleb was having a bad appetite one day and was feverish? Well it started then, at first he had pretty low fever about 37.7degrees and we thought it may be because he was teething but the next day it started shooting up to 39 degrees! Had to bring him to the PD on the 3rd day cause he was still having pretty high fever… Thank god his appetite and his mood wasn’t much affected.

Anyway the doc says that if its fake measles, a rash will appear normally on the 3rd or 4th day and the fever will come down… How true, its the 5th day today and his temperature is just slightly high and he is having a rashes outbreak now on his torso… Not too bad and doesn’t seem like he is itching.

Anyway we will be back at the office tomorrow for a review of his white blood cells count again. Will check with the doc again! On a lighter note, his 8th tooth is out today (Feb 7)- the right lower lateral incisor! Yahoo!

Plans kept changing, we were suppose to go to the airshow with our family on Sunday but Caleb wasn’t feeling well so we decided to skip it. Instead yesterday morning, we made a last minute decision to go with daddy (10mins before daddy left for work) since Caleb seems to be doing much better and he was rather whiny staying home while daddy had to go work at the airshow… so we tag along!

Thank god for “VIP” treatment- we love you daddy!!! We had carpark passes, we get to stay in an air con chalet with a nice lunch catered from goodwood park hotel and watch the aero display without going through the extreme noise! Otherwise I think Caleb’s temperature may flare!

We even saw Zoe Tay and her boys at the chalet!!! What a treat for a boy who had a few boring days stuck home nursing his fever… He was even better after the little “excursion”! :) Hmmm shld have ask to take a picture with her ya but we were too star struck! Haha…

My first Alphabet…

It’s not A, Its not B… It’s C! C for CALEB!!!

Eating like an adult?!

Mummy is busy changing her wardrobe with online shopping so there’s only pictures! Have fun!
PS: Mummy thank god for the existence for Frosty, not only does he brings us companionship, he is the best vacumn cleaner of all when it comes to devouring all of Caleb’s crumbs… MUACKS!

Cooking Adventures

Remember last year when our Aunt Jennifer came to help us with the confinement in AZ, I was soooo impressed with her kitchen management skills! She was able to find uses for all the leftover ingredients in my fridge and whipped them up into yummy delicious dishes! Helping us to clear our otherwise-would-be-thrown-away-ingredients.

This only works if you are a walking recipe book, have many experiences in the kitchen and is born to love the kitchen! I aspire to be like that too- to not cause so much food wastage and to be able to come up with delicious meals and ideas! I guess it really takes loads of creativity to do that since I am still struggling with this food wastage issue in my kitchen….

Tip: Since its cny and Spring cleaning time, remember to clear out that fridge of yours, throw away expire products and items that smells and looks funny!

And so yesterday I decide to make Char Siew Wanton Mee since i have almost all the sauces for the marinate, plus I have some minced pork for the wantons!!! The recipe was shared with me by my gfr Jane and its one of THE BEST la! Since I was already taking the effort to make it, I decide to make a bit more and the leftover char siew to use them today because my mum wasn’t cooking and we stayed home for dinner instead!

Check out the pictures…

The wantons:
Adults: Filling marinated with soya sauce, sesame oil and pepper
Kids: Filling marianted with garlic powder, oilve oil and pepper
Cooking Tip: Remember to blanch your wanton in some boiling water first before putting them into the soup so that the starchy stuff won’t destroy your soup!

Day 2:
What to do with the leftover Char Siew? Fried Rice!!! Maybe I should make char siew rice another day!
Cooking Tip: If you are using freshly cut carrots instead of frozen ones, do remember to steam it for a little one before using them otherwise your carrots may be a bit too hard when you fry them together with the rice…

Servings:
Caleb: Didn’t finish his food, he wasn’t in the mood for food and was feeling a little feverish, took his temperature it was 37.7degrees, probably teething fever?

Caleb couldn’t possibly drink tom yam ya. So I used the chicken stock to make fish tofu soup…

And because I bought lemon grass for the tom yam soup, I decide to use the rest of the lemon grass for a drink! Refreshing honey lemon grass drink… BUT I forgot to mash the lemon grass a bit and the drink didn’t have any lemongrass taste at all! OOps…

Graduation Performance

Hmmm since I have graduated from a baby to a cruising toddler now that I turn one year old, I decide that I must reward my readers with a graduation performance! Enjoy!!!

Dong Dong Qiang

I remember last year sometime this time, I was busy with my confinement in Arizona… Gorging myself with pineapple tarts before Caleb was born!

How soon, its another year again! And this year we are going to celebrate it with our family! CNY visiting! How exciting!!! Caleb is going to get ang baos, while daddy and mummy will be busy giving ang baos! Gosh!

We decided to bring Caleb to Chinatown to soak in the atmosphere, not knowing that it was the lights up ceremony! Luckily we were smart enough to not drive there, thinking it would be rather difficult to find parking. BOY! Were we glad we made the decision-the roads were mostly closed! Haha…

We wanted to take a bus to Chinatown coz there was a direct bus from our place but, we waited for about 15mins and still it hasn’t arrived and we decided to take a cab instead haha… Oops missed out on a bus experience!!!

We were surprised by the fireworks too! Caleb loved staring at it and couldn’t take his eyes off the skies when they were flashing everywhere!!! He had loads of fun, soaking in all the sights and sounds, smiling at people and at the golden new year decorations! Mummy and daddy bought some new year goodies too! How we have missed the market for 2 years we cannot comprehend! Home is still the best!!!

Tips for a great CNY market walk
1. Do not bring the stroller or pram if you can… Difficult to manouver around
2. Travel light a small back pack, with the necessities, water especially when you are perspiring and losing all those body water
3. Carry your back pack and bags where you can see them to avoid being pickpocket
4. Bring a little fan if you cannot stand the heat!
5. Dress in light breathable cotton clothes!
6. Take lots of pictures with your camera!!!

Child Labor…

I’m obsessed with mopping the floor these days. I guess I found it rather interesting that mummy mops the floor everyday because of frosty and me, so I decided I should do my share to help!

If mummy does not give me a wet cloth, I will find my way to it some how… from the tub of laundry left for the part time helper to iron, floor mats, to tissues! I will dip them in frosty’s drinking water and help mummy mop the floor-living area, bedroom, you name it, I will never miss a spot!

7th Tooth

25 Jan 2010- Finally Mummy spotted my 7th tooth. It’s out! Just a tinsy bitsy, my lower left lateral incisor!

A Tiny Barack Obama Supporter

Caleb was born in a very significant era, he was born the year and the month where Barack Obama won the presidential election! 1 week after he was born, Obama was inaugurated, on 20 Jan 2009.

And so our dear Caleb is a huge supporter of this first African-American President!

Though our boy was half naked today-and we are very sure he doesn’t understand what Obama’s speech was about, he couldn’t stop agreeing with President Obama during his pledge to double US exports! - A true American, our dear boy!

Flipping Books

Mummies who have babies around the same age as Caleb would agree that they love to flip and feel books at this stage! His uncle Freddie brought him a Touch and Feel book for Christmas and oh my, how our little boy loves it… especially when he reach the last page with a fluffy penguin. He couldn’t seem to stop himself from giving the fluffy penguin a tug on his fur with his teeth!!!

And so these days when we have nothing to do while shopping, Caleb and I will head to the nearest bookstore to check out the children section. He can keep himself busy for at least 30mins just with crawling around the store and flipping the books!

The stingy mummy will then leave the book stores with only a magazine and nothing else… Bleah…

Time to hit the libraries instead!!!
